We're a small, bespoke web design studio, building custom websites for businesses and individuals since 1999. You may have known us as Interface Engineer, same people, new name. We have learned that true contentment and satisfaction comes from helping others succeed, so we truly enjoy the work that we do.

What does Forest Web Works do?
We design and build custom websites and ecommerce stores for businesses and nonprofits, then optimize them for search, AI answer engines, page speed, and security. We have been building the web since 1999.
What are AEO and GEO (Answer and Generative Engine Optimization)?
AEO and GEO are the work of making your site one of the few sources that AI tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews pull from and cite when they generate an answer. They build on traditional SEO with structured data, clear answers, and strong trust signals.
Do you work on existing sites, or only new builds?
Both. We build from scratch, modernize and refresh existing sites, and take over ongoing maintenance. Whatever fits your situation, we can help.
What platforms do you build on?
We build on WordPress, Shopify, or a fully custom stack, whatever fits the project. If you are already on Squarespace, we can maintain your site or convert it to WordPress when you are ready to make the move.
How long does a website project take?
It depends on scope, but most projects run from a few weeks to a couple of months. We aim to finish ahead of time and under budget, and we keep you as involved as you would like to be.
Where are you located and who do you work with?
We are based in the San Francisco Bay Area and work with clients across the country. Most of our work comes to us through referrals.
